To share with you in authenticity, with laughter, tears and love, the ways of accompanying the dying.
We focus on the time period between 'when-cure-driven-treatments-begin-to-stop-working' and early bereavement.
QLC began as an online resource center, in 2005, for the purpose of reducing suffering at the end of life by accompanying our dying powerfully and beautifully. We quickly became a guide and leader in the end-of-life doula movement, as well as educator about Palliative Care in the non-hospice setting.
Every person needs to know about palliative care for 2 reasons:
1. Many people are dying without hospice or coming on service too late and are suffering miserably prior to hospice entry, so they need palliative care in the acute care setting, AND,
2. Palliative Care should actually be begun at diagnosis, along with a cure-directed treatment plan with any serious illness--even if you are fully expected to survive and recover. Did you know that?
We have evolved over the years to not only be a voice for non-hospice palliative care, but to also bridge the gaps in health and death care. We are privileged and honored to be a guiding light for all advocates inspired to reduce suffering during illness and dying.
